Illustrating | A young couple with their dog

For this couple's last Valentine's Day (the guy doesn't have much time left due to cancer), I made an illustration of them with their dog. Her friend send me pictures of them and I asked what they like. "They're huge animallovers and they love taking walks with their dog", she said. So I decided to make an illustration of them walking their dog in the forest. 

These are the pictures I worked with for reference. I used the christmas picture for their looks (most recent picture she could send me) and the picture with the goat for the outdoor clothes. 

I started making a sketch and first wanted the dog to walk besided them, but I thought it would be nice if the dog was chasing some other animal, so there would be some action in it. 

I used watercolour, POSCA markers, acrylics, Faber-Castell Ink Pens and a few colourpencils of Faber-Castell Polychromos .

I used a coral sponge to dab in 4 different colors of acrylic paint to make the leaves on the trees. I added an extra dark color on parts of the leaves to create a little bit more depth.
